I think smashing down the wall and investigating the room beyond might prove interesting.

If noone else claims them Subdolus could use a couple extra daggers. There have been a few times an extra set would of been handy.
Sub agrees that breakdown the wall seems to be the best option.

Smashing that thin wall has got to be easier than clearing cave in.

Just give Zargon a pick and tell him what to hit!

Sub you get 4 daggers after a good search (including the Jesters). The fighters take the arrows and some back up long swords (I assume).
Subdolus returns to the crack in the wall and carefully studies it, wishing the little gnome Miles were still around to advise him. The question being, will enlarging the hole in the wall cause a major cave-in of any sort. Ropes are tied from above to support 2 with pick and hammer at a time. After 3 laborous hours the group manages to clear an opening big enough for everyone to squeeze threw (Subdolus saved against a cave in BTW with a 14 vs. petrification). The group climb threw one at a time into a room (or wide hall) 20 wide and 50 feet long (running north to south). On the NE corner is a large banded door with a key sticking out of its lock and to the south a porticulas which is down, with a faint breeze blowing from that direction...a breeze with the smell of death upon it. The floor is strewn with many old bones (mostly human) apparently very old. The walls hold 3 large mildewed oil portraits of 3 different very sickly looking fellows with long gaunt faces in posh, almost pretty boy clothing (they appear to be close relatives, perhaps brothers in their early 40s). Behind one painting is found a silver map case with a small emerald attached to its stopper. No traps are detected on it by the thief. When Subdolus peers through the bars of the porticulous he notices a large natural cavern. He also notices the bars are made (or perhaps plated) in silver inlayed with patterns of birds and flowers in a spiral fashion. Examining the ground near the particulas you find it was openned recently (though it is closed now), and you see footprints in the dust. No secret doors are found. What do you wish to do?

Tiberious asks one of the clerics if they can detect evil by the porticulus. The silver worries the monk.

Smythus has the spell memorized and casts it sticking his hands through the bars, he detects evil in the cave ahead, but nothing specific, only that the entire cavern seems to be glowing faintly (unlike this hallway), "I wouldn't be surprised if there's not something of intense evil in there". Sog studies the bars and thinks the silver inlay work is likely druidic or Elven in design and may form a supernatural barrier of sorts when closed, similar to what a silver cross might do.
Tapping the walls, Calhagn finds a well hidden 3 foot secret compartment hidden halfway up the wall near the particulas, Sub can't believe he missed it. (I'll assume its checked out by the thief). Subdolus detects a trap (FRT 20) finding a vile on the inside of the compartment door that would have spilt out when the compartment door was opened, he safely removes it. The vile is 6 inches tall with a stopper loosely placed. He pushes the stopper back in. Subdolus's best bet is that it would have aerosolized once openned, poisoning everyone in the hall. Sub (or Tiberious) do you want to take this vile with you, you think it could be thrown as a weapon or used as a trap, infact its very similar to the one carried by the evil dwarf you battled earlier in the dungeon.
When the door is openned you find a wheel with a handle attached to a chain that disappears into the wall. Likely used to raise and lower the porticulis you think.

Tiberious will wait to see if Sub wants the vile, if he does not, Tiberious will ask if he can carry it.

Subdolus looks to the monk, "By all means, please take it. It is probably safer with you anyway."

The monk pockets the vile (I assume safely).

Would Tiberious mind checking for traps on the large banded door with the invitational key protruding from the keyhole?

Tiberious will ask one of the fighters to cover im with a distance weapon while he carefully looks for traps by the door.

Subdolus will carefully inspect the areas Tiberious has already checked. If everything is clear they might as well open the door. If they do Sub will step into cover at the side of the door while the fighters prepare to face any oncoming foes.

No traps are detected on the door, and the key appears to be stuck in the mechanism. Once twisted and unlocked the door is opened, revealing steep stairs heading downward east 40 feet before reaching a small landing and then heading downward due north and out of site. The stairs and much of the walls and ceiling are covered in a thick blackish slippery substance which Smythus and Sog identify as old coagulated blood (perhaps a few months to weeks old). You also notice a slight breeze hitting your face blowing up the stairs.
Cadellin tells you he has monster summoning memorized if you want him to send something down.
