OOC: Sorry, bad day at work yesterday.
Calhagn loses his armor, but not sword nor daggers, and looks for a suitably thick vine to climb.

Does Sog wish to cast a spell?

OOC: OK I'll go ahead and NPC Sog and do what I think he'd do.
The bug eyed cleric lifts his hands and cast a light spell at the head of the giant insect. The creature saves and the spell instead hits a vine in front of its face lighting up Tiberious and the creature as well as several smaller things moving along the branches that steer clear of the light.
The agile thief reaches the giant mantis and prepares to attack next round wrapping his leg around a thick vine while drawing his magical skimitar.
Cal removes the bulk of his armor and gets about a third of the way up (he'll be there at the end of next round).
The rest of the fighters pull their long bows and fire (with the aid of Sogs light spell, reducing their minus to -2 to hit the highly camaflauged creature). 5 arrows hit doing 18 pts damage. Tiberious is able to attack with his axe (his legs and other armed pinned tightly (a 19 str. req. to attempt to break free) but the magical blade simply bounces off the creatures hard chitin head.
Inititiative, monster: 2 group 2 Simo (I'll do the monster first). The creature bites into tiberious shoulder eating him like an ear of corn inflicting 8 pts of damage. At the same moment Tiberious manages to swing his axe and smash into one of the round eyes of the Mantis for 11 pts. damage.
Subdolus swings with his skimitar and removes the bottom half of one of the creatures legs for 5 pts damage.
Just as the fighters on the ground are about to blast away with their bows at the mantis 20 dark figures (the size of kolbolds) drop from the vines above them, as if in an attempt of an ambush (though no surprise is gained). As they come into sight you see these appear to be forest monkeys, but these are....rotten and hideous, gaunt...their skinned pealed away in places exposing rotting bone and flesh and sharp teeth. Huge gaping mouths scream horridly as they drop upon the group below biting and tearing with ferocity.
Calhagan, only 10 feet from Tiberious, is ambushed by 5 of these undead monkeys that jump at him, 3 cling on and one manages to bite his face for 5 pts damage (rolling a 19).
The fighters below fire their arrows at the Mantis (I'll assume) seeing their friend close to death. 2 more arrows hit for 11 pts.
Sogathan and the HO cleric attempt to turn, but their attempts don't seem to work, so both use weapons: Sog pulls his staff and swings at a ghoul monkey as it nears his head but misses. The Half Orc swings his mace at another mid air but also misses.
The Mantis drops Tiberious who cetches on to a vine and then prepares to flee upward. while 10 more ghoul monkeys start sneaking over toward Tiberious and Subdolus (but luckly are revealed in the light spell). Initiative: Group 4 monsters 1 (you guys go first). Does the group wish to continue attacking the mantis or the new foe?

You drop out of range of the charging monkeys (5 change direction and start to follow you); drinking the entire potion, you heal for 16 pts (kicks in next round). Tiberious cetches the attention of several other monkeys who start jumping in his direction. Sogathan throws his staff which forms into a snake and entwines around 2 monkeys crushing them for 5 and 7.
The fighters notice the bulk of the undead monkeys seem to be heading over toward the clerics or the thief (who's closer to the platform).

Fletcher, there are undead monkeys dropping ontop of you to deal with first.
Calhagan is about 25 feet above the ground. (OOC: will do SKA).

Tiberious, after drinking the healing potion, if no monkeys are right on him, will throw both handaxes of returning at the monkeys attacking Subdolus.
(Axe, TIberious will alos glance down from his vine perch to see hpw many monkeys are attacking Fletcher.)

If Calhagn still has 5 monkeys on him then he's jumping for the ground. With 5 monkeys clinging to him, then hopefully at least one will cushion his fall. ;D
If there are no monkeys on him, then he'll climb for the platform.

Fletcher slices one in half with his new sword, and joins his comrads (giving support to the clerics). Calhagn opts to drop but realizes the monkeys will probably avoid the ground jumping onto vines at the last minute. So he climbs the remaining distance and pulls himself up onto the platform. Oddly the 5 monkeys clinging to your armor jump off once you pull yourself up onto the platform. The group below looses sight of you. (OOC: See PM for what Cal sees).
