The morning is bright, but very cold! Incredibly so, you think for late spring (at 12 degrees) even if you do stand ontop of a glacier high in the mountains.... building that ice cave 2 days earlier surely saved your life when that blizzard hit. Unfortunately after the storm you found your horse gone, frozen blood in its place suggest to you it died violently. Tracking didn't help as the snow covered any. With little food you pushed on in hopes of finding your prey.
2 weeks earlier you had found a small settlement of 7 large cabins burnt to the ground and ransacked, the 30 or so inhabitants tortured, raped and mutilated. Within the largest of these cabins you found floorboards ripped up and a deep pit, as if something had once been hidden there and then removed by the recent attackers (what might that have been you wonder?). One man badly injured muttered "they took prisoners" before his mouth filled with blood and he died... Valuables that were moderately heavy were left, and 20 humanoid (booted footprints larger then human and of individuals much heavier) lead up into the hoothills, smaller human footprints with them (3 at least, and women or children by the weight).
You quickly followed the 2 day old tracks (of around 30 individuals) into the foothills, and eventually high up into the mountains onto the glacier face itself.
You were close to cetching up when the blizzard hit; after two days of heavy snowfall and subzero temperatures, you dug yourself out to find all tracks burried feet below. Lost and without much hope you continued in the direction the tracks had been leading, higher into the glacier, perhaps to a pass you think.
Just as your about to give up and head for the tree line and food, you hear a horrendous scream from the north. You move as quickly as you can and spot a keep, from the way you approach however, you find before the keep a river coming out of a large cave mouth, and beside that mouth another opening also large with a pile of ice around it next to this river. Voices can be heard speaking inside, but you can't make them out as they are faint. No tracks lead into this passage, and you have to scurry to the top of a pile of snow and ice outside of it to hear. The voices seem human now, and low, as if to be cautious.
The tunnel and voices lie in front of you, do you wish to investigate?
