Fletcher and Ermanaric uncoil the Hanu Naga from their crushed companion, while Zargon and the 2 clerics are helped up onto the platform by the monk and thief.
The clerics are fairly certain the ghoul monkeys won't be back (given they no longer have the unholly cross for protection against turn). The giant mantis has fled into the thick undergrowth, no doubt recovering from its wounds. Does the group wish to wait here and heal (it will take a day or 2 you think).
Also, you can't help but notice the pulsating greenish light coming from the strange lantern getting a little brighter (almost "excited"). Do you wish to investigate this. It sits in the center of a disk of some sort of shiney black metal about 8 feet across. The disk sits in the middle of the platform.

Tiberious advises not disturbing the green glowing lantern until Cal. is up again. Some sort of magical trap might kill anyone seriously injured at this time.

Calhagn takes another 6 pts. damage (OOC: are you still alive?). Cal's a little thinner, and a bit taller, but still alive (in positive hps) if not exactly thriving.

Subdolus is healed for 8, Tiberious for 11, Fletcher for 21 and Calhagn for 28. The clerics indicate they must now rest. Do you wish to go back to the ground, or stay up here? Also, do you want to investigate this platform and glowing lantern?

Definitely rest and recover spells/HPs... But... first, maybe it wouldn't hurt to at least go and look at the lantern without touching it or sparking any events. OOC: anyone got a strange ring they want to stick in it?

The thief and monk find no traps around the disk. Once given the all clear Sogathan approaches the lantern (staying off the metal disk) and peers within. What he sees could only be described as a floating star emmitting a yellow light with a greenish tinge. The glass of the lantern is darkened so that you assume the light is brighter. It pulsates even quicker as you watch...as if an intellegence lies within. Do you want to try anything?

Sogathan thinks he remembers something about this sort of thing from his clerical education, but can't remember.

Zargon asks the pulsating light, "Hello?? Anyone in there?" When he notices the odd looks from his companions, he'll add, "Well, it couldn't hurt to try..."

You notice the pulsating reacts to your questions with a greater intensity and more frantic flashing moving directly up to the glass nearest you. The lantern is 2 1/2 feet tall and a 1 foot wide.

Probably best to rest up beforehand, boys, then we'll try to suss this thing out.
Sogathan spends his rest time trying to jog his memory.

Ermanaric will attempt to retrieve his armor.
He agrees with Sogathan.

No random encounters occur (though you hear plenty of movement from above). After 24 hours the group fully heals and returns to the platform. The lantern brightens again when the group moves around it. What would you like to do next?

OOC: anyone got a strange ring they want to stick in it? I did find that ring of darkvision.
In brightest day, In blackest night...Did Sog memorize a detect evil spell? Fletcher will wait for the cleric to try some spells. Then he will ask the latern, "Can you hear me?"

Sogathan casts detect evil and indicates the lamp does not glow such, however, he detects something glowing hidden in the cloak of the half orc cleric (wispering this in Fletchers and Subdolus's ears...both happen to be standing next to Sog).

Sog will use the crown to attempt to find out if it's sentient and maybe telepathic.
