Can anyone explain to me why Peter B. Jackson hates dwarves so much? I know he does because of what he did to Gimli in the movies.
First, he uses makeup that the actor is allergic to, so that Gimli looks like a squinting beady-eyed c0ck-eyed lazy-eyed dimwit.
Then he decides Gimli is good for nothing constructive so let's just use him for the comic relief. After all, he's short, what could be funnier?
In Return we have the drinking contest? How frickin' ridiculous is that? Everyone knows dwarves can drink you under the table, what the heck was PJ thinking?
When it comes time to release the 'army of the dead' losers, Gimli says not to, even though Aragorn has given his word. Very dishonorable and inappropriate and never would have really happened with a real dwarf in real life.
In Two Towers, the whole falling off the horse thing. Getting stuck under a warg. Being a pompous ass every chance he gets. Oh, haha, he can't see over the wall at Helm's Deep. Isn't that hilarious? Hahaha, let's give PJ another Oscar!
He never gets as many fight scenes as the other dudes, either. Even though he's the coolest of them all and kills with more style and panache.
Plus the whole stupid dwarf tossing thing, as though a man could just throw a full-grown dwarf in full armor like a 5-lb. sack of potatoes. Idiotic I say! Moronic! Insulting!
Not the beard! Yeah, please, let me fall and die instead.
I hope to God PJ gets over this blatant dwarf-racism before he makes The Hobbit or he'll ruin Thorin & Co too.

Peter Jackson IS a dwarf. Have you seen the guy? The hair, the beard, the gut....if the guy isn't full dwarf he's at the very least got a dwarven ancestor somewhere.
Maybe it was some screwed up form of self-loathing coming out in the film.

What are you saying, BP? You didn't like the films? Actually, I DID like the films. I'm just disappointed that PJ didn't do as good a job with the script writing as he did with the cinematography, FX, costuming, music, casting and directing. I thought the acting was really top notch. I thought there were some original additions by PJ that showed real brilliance (the Boromir death scene with Sean Bean and Vigo Mortensen was REALLY good). If you go back and look at that scene in the book, I think you'll find Tokien's version isn't nearly as compelling. But PJ's lack of respect for Tolkien's language and plot really bug me and his obvious misreading of some of the characters (Faramir anyone?? ) really bugged me.

Yeah, WTH was that all about, I figured it was taken from the books, but I don't remember this ever happening? The other cutiesy stuff I can see to attract the clueless crowed, but come on!
