Darian finds that it would be possible to throw a dagger or oil bomb if the goblins move closer. If he replaces one of the mercenaries in the front line, he could of course attack. The second volley of the mercenaries is completely off target. It appears as if they where thrown off their game by the reforming of the line. Gerto lands a mighty blow to top of his opponents head, shattering both his helmet and his skull.
Rendolf is struck again for 2 points of damage. His compatriots manage to avoid damage. Rendolf seems to have angered the god of small humanoids with pointy sticks.
The goblins second volley of spears wounds another mercenary for three points of damage.
Gorthak's cure spell completely heals Rendolf’s wounds. You could never tell he was used as a pincushion for the past three minutes.
Post intent for round 4.

Krago is extremely infuriated that some holy roller killed a goblin and he hasn't. Red faced and with steam spouting from his ears, he leaps and attempts to impale the goblin locked in a deadly duel with him. OOC: Um, I attack again.

Are the mercs in melee with the goblins or are they still standing 15' apart. In the former case I urge the mercs to continue fighting bravely and motion for either Darian or Finrod to take the place of the first merc to fall (figuring it'll probably happen sooner rather than later since 3 of 5 are now injured). If the latter, I urge either Finrod or Darian to step up in place of one of the wounded mercs and throw an oil-bomb at the goblins.

Hiding behind the mercs, Finrod lights an oil bomb, Darian does as well (OOP SKA is out for the day asked me to command Darian). If we can also throw our oil bombs this round we do so; I aim mine toward those goblin in the back of the formation, (hopefully discourage any retreat in that direction), and darian toward the center mass . Once we are ready we yell to the mercs to either move-in closer (to put us in oil bomb range) or if already in oil bomb range, to duck while we throw. If we can only light the bombs this round, then we will wait till next round to perfrom the above attack.

Before Darian or Finrod throw their respective oil bombs he yells out to Gorthack :" Gorthack, how many creatures left are attacking in front and aremore coming?"
OOC: If more goblins or other creatures are coming from the front besides the ones initially encountered Darian will recommend he and Finrod launch a barrage of daggers instead of oil to prevent closing our only means of retreat.
If it is the same number (ie no new source of monsters from the front) Darian will go ahead and throw his oil bomb as described earlier by Axe.
(Thanks Axe for running my PC, at least this time I did not return to find I had given all my valuables away and had fostered a half-orc child.)

As soon as feasable, I throw my flask (and I assume SKA does as well, given no more goblins are coming in toward the front of the group).

Rendolf sends a friendly glance to Gorthakh and shouts, "You are a true ally and friend! Let us now send these little devils back to their creator, preferably in dozens of pieces!!!"
Rendolf will press the attack to the closest goblin, attacking whichever foul critter is nearest to the striking distnace of his broadsword.

Gerto lets a grim smile cross his face, happy he can secure the safety of his group and the goodness of mankind, but with a slight twinge of despair at the thought that so many must die in conflict. The inner conflict is easily resolved, as Gerto swings again at the next goblin who would oppose all that is good.

The goblins in the rear are still 15 away from you
Before the wounded mercenary can pull back, he is struck square in the chest by another spear. His comrades try to help, but he is dead already. Another mercenary was hit as well, suffering a major wound to the abdomen. At this point only one mercenary is uninjured.
Darian’s oil bomb catches two of the goblins in the rear with a splash of oil. The one Finrod throws fails to break on impact and is picked up by one of the goblins.
The second half of the party meets with great success this round. Half of the remaining goblins fall in melee and the other half are stuck down as they attempt a withdrawal. No party member was injured, not even Rendolf.

I help the surviving mercs fall back as the fighters from the front take thier place. If the oil bomb held by the goblin is lit, I ask Darian to take him out with daggers or another oil bomb.

Gerto waits for the rear rank to reform so he may either take the line and fight, or provide healing to those who need it if he cannot fill a spot.

I order the mercs to fall back into the room, 2 of them providing cover with their shields while the other 2 drag the body of their fallen companion (yeah I know he's already dead, but I figure it'll help the morale of the others to know we won't leave their corpses to be mutilated and otherwise violated by the bad guys should they also fall). I make sure to get myself behind the door or around the corner or otherwise out of the line-of-sight of the goblin holding the lit and prepped oil-bomb.
