Forgot to tell you guys I was going on vacation from Sunday to Sunday. Sorry about that. Haven't had access to a computer.
I'll have to role this out when I get a chance. Internet access is dicey here. If I don't get to it, I'll resume play on Monday.

Day 1

Post by AxeMental on Jul 13, 2008 20:05:12 GMT -5
OOC: I'm back from a wonderful vacation.
P&P, green slime! Very creative. I assume you hold off on that one for now and stick with the monster summoning.
You cast monster summoning 1 and 5 hobgoblins appear (the darkness spell prevents them from falling into the hypnotic trap themselves). Ropes are thrown up into the webbing near the cones and the hobgoblins climb up weapons in hand (following the commands of their master, who, I assume, tells them to avoid looking at the webbing they climb over). As they reach the entrance (init. 3, 3) the mother reaches out with its jaws and clamps down on the first hobgoblin pulling it in. 3 babies scamper out and bite the next one causing it to die. Both of Tiberious's axes hit as do 3 arrows killing the babies and damaging the mother severely. The other 3 hobgoblins charge into the tunnel (which they can fit in, and oddly walk in without getting stuck. Tiberious flys up and informs the group the mother is killed by the remaining 3 hobgoblins, but they are taken out themselves by 2 babies (failing their saves). Tiberious takes careful aim with daggers and finishes the 2 baby spiders off. He enters the cone shaped sack and investigates. The room glows dimly all around in the spectrum and the monk has to concentrate to recover the ranger's body. He also finds treasure. It seems these creatures liked pretty things. The monk flys back down to teh group with sacks filled with treasure. 300 GPs, 22 PPs (silver was left behind). Fletchers body is now in pieces. An arm and leg were ripped off. Drained of everything within its now limp and soft. When the rangers armor is removed, his body is found to be so shriveled and thin it could be worn as a cape and is quickly hardening into tough leather. Sog says the body is in horrible shape. It would take multiple regeneration spells, possibly a wish. For now he carefully wraps the body up in cloth and stows it away in Tiberious's new bag of holding (taken from the last adventure).
The ranger has the usual assortment of weapons and armor (I'll assume the group brings it along), but also has a short sword of sharpness (works the same as the normal sort but limited to normal sized in removing limbs). Who wants that?
The group rests and rememorizes spells.
To speed things up I'll assume the group finishes off the other nests (torches and flasks of oil thrown inside end up scaring the babies out). You kill 21 more, and no adults. This takes a day. The room is searched and the pile of bones is impressive. It seems travellers have been hunted for many generations. 3300 GPs in all sorts of treasure is found (mostly in the nests but also in special wrapped holdings near the center of the webs).
Also, a suite of magical chainmail is found (the fighters and wizard believe it to be very good, its basically +3). This fighter type also carried a silver long sword and a long bow with 36 arrows (his other belongings are ruined).
The thrown at the far end of the room is studied in great detail.
It is larger then most (a human would be too small for it). Its back is that of a coiled 4 headed snake of great size, each head has 2 eyes with large emeralds in each.
The monk and thief remove the eyes without breaking any. Another 12 gems of various types are recoverd from various parts of the thrown also. (each emerald is worth 1000 GPs and the 12 other gems are worth a total of 2,000 GPs). So a total of 6,000 GPs from the thrown.
Sogathan informs the group that the 4 headed snake, he recalls from his studies as a student, is a Naga...a soul-less being, and this 4 headed snake image was associated with the Leviathan cult. The bug eyed cleric rubs his chin, "Its an ancient cult, bent on the total destruction of the world. It was driven out of existance 1,000s of years ago as I recall. It seems logical this thrown belonged to one of its great priests".
The walls are searched for secret passages but none are found. 3 interesting copper vats are found (some still containing acid at their bottoms) large enough for several people to be placed in. They are reliefed with images of the Naga cult, as well as symbols non can make sense of.
A jade snake handled dagger (comprised of two entwined snake bodies) is found near the thrown. It doesn't glow magical.
Also a necklace is found near the back of the room. It is made of platnum and is comprised of a circle with a 4 headed snake in its center. It is 2 inches in diameter and is strung on a platnum chain the size worn by a human sized person.
Who takes what? Short Sword of Sharpness +3 Chain Jade Dagger Necklace Amulet
The only way to go now is back out of this room and down the stairs. Do you want to investigate anything else.

Subdolus checks to see if the diamond eye is still present in the dried husk that used to be Fletcher. If it is he offers to use it as it could prove very helpful when scouting ahead.

Oh yes, the eye is still there. I assume the group agrees and you pull the eye out, suddenly it replaces your own left eye causing great pain. Dropping to the ground it takes several minutes before you can see threw it, at first a blur, and then clearly. To everyone else it first appears to be a diamond, but then transforms in color to match the right eye (though a close up inspection reveals the facets of the diamond, and there is a 20% chance it will be noticed by observers. Your normal left eye is gone (unless the diamond is removed and the eye is regrown).

This shaft to the surface... what's up there? Is it a simple chimney, or are there branches off it? A secret room, perhaps?

P&P, green slime! Very creative. I assume you hold off on that one for now and stick with the monster summoning. Oh, polymorph other is a ridiculously powerful spell if you can think outside the box. It can be a save-or-die spell (poof! you're a goldfish), a room-clearer (poof! you're green slime), a grenade (poof! you're a gas spore--magic missile!), and it does fly or spider climb or water breathing on a high-con friend, among rather a lot of others. Another favourite of mine is turning things into carrion crawlers.

The armor changes shape and fits you perfectly. It also has very little weight. No, I used to attempt that but it slowed the game down too much. I suppose I should give it a try again sometime.
The crack in the rock on further investigation appears to be a natural cave in (similar to a sink hole) possibly caused during an earthquake. No secret rooms are detected. It also looks to be enlarged by the spiders.

Post by AxeMental on Jul 14, 2008 19:32:15 GMT -5
So, who's got the dagger and necklace? And who wants the sword of sharpness?
OOC: Stranger, here are the abilities of the diamond eye:
The diamond allows you to create an advanced phantasmal force one time per day or normal phantasmal force 3 x a day (the effort gives the sensation of exhausting his new eye) as per the spell cast by a 10th level illusionist, as well as detect illusions at all times like the spell (he knows this as that eye detects what he makes as see threw while his other eye believes)
How far in advance are the thief and monk going to go down the stairs?
