Calhagn anxiously waits, near the darkened portal, for someone to lighten the dark.

OOC: I'll go ahead and NPC the Yellow Wizard until he shows back up (hopefully soon).
The old wizard starts rumaging threw his things and finds what he is looking for. Taking out of a black pouch he dumps into his hand 5 marble shaped stones each with a perminant light spell cast upon it. He throws them one at a time at the wall. To everyone but fletcher they appear to hit the wall and fall to the floor. But Fletcher informs the grouip they do indeed pass threw the wall and light the passage. The ranger steps threws the illusion first and examines the 6 dead bodies (all whom were in plate mail). They are poisoned, though one seems to have small rips throughout his armor and body, tear marks and covered in a puss. He seems to have saved against the poison and been killed by something else instead...something....fowl.
After the others go threw, Cadellin enters and examines the dead bodies. gets a wiff of their clothing, and looking at the particular effects the poison had, he says rubbing his chin and beard and wrinkling his brow, "its most likely a spell called cloud kill, perhaps pushed down the hall by a slight magical breeze, it seems to be gone now save its faint smell, though the cloud might be encountered up ahead". He frowns, "Anyone this cloud encountered would have had little chance!" Knowing they may have only seconds to spare the group pushes on. Subdolus takes the lead, having a magical immunity to such vapourus poison. As they progress down the hall they find more dead individuals, 12 in all. Most are servants, but a few of the royal family are encountered as well, some still in sleeping cloths. The party passes by 6 grand doors all smashed threw and splinterred. The rooms they open into are grand, filled with only the finest furnishings; each goes into a sweet of sorts with a dining area, bathing area, and bed chamber. Chests and jewelry found have been left alone, but the rooms appear to have been quickly entered and searched. The group spends no more then a few minutes searching these rooms, finding them empty of anything save one body badly cut into pieces, also covered in puss. When the party reaches the end of the hall they come to another grand room, still covered in darkness. There they find the ancient wizard Cadellin had just been talking to torn apart, also puss covering his clothing. The magical items he had been carrying (his rings, a wand, and boots all gone).
Surrounding him on the floor you find 6 of the other royal guard (the ones you had travelled up stairs with) all smoldering and crisp. The walls in this marble chamber are scorched and broken as if by heat, and infact the walls and floor are still hot to the touch. "A massive fire ball if I'm not mistaken" says the Cadellin. "It appears this ancient wizard some how avoided this fate, but was killed by something else....something I assume his magic had little effect on" In any event the princess isn't found. In the blood Fletcher sees footprints heading into another wall, and the group follows threw yet another illusionary wall, this one leading down another hall lined in gold foil with more huge portraits. This hall is also inky black until the stones of light are used. This appears to be the royal living chamber. filled with the incredibly valuable things one might expect. Subdolus's jaw drops at the gem lined bathing tub, and the platnum silverwear set on a dining table made of coral, with plates carved from something that looks like pearl. When you pass threw another hall (which seems to be leading to the bed chambers) you hit a silence spell blocking the sound of anything going on beyond.
When the group passes threw to the other side you hear the noise of battle; the princess screaming; fighters, (including the dwarf in purple boots) yelling, swords engaged in battle, and laughter, maniacal laughter...all coming from down the hall. Another door, this one of metal lies to the ground bent. Flashes of light can be seen coming from beyond the doorway (perhaps the flashes of magic going off in the room), the smell of burnt flesh and white smoke drifts out into the hall toward you, clinging for the moment to the ceiling. The hall is 30 feet long with fire marlbe floors, but you'll need to move closer to see whats going on inside the actual room. Do the fighters wish to rush in, or do they want the thief to go first.
PS, You are very likely entering the royal bed chamber where the king sleeps (you gather this from its placement in relation to the other rooms. It appears a battle is taking place in there.

Regardless of whether the fighters or thief go in first, Cadellin will do what he usually does in an important battle, which is to slow the largest concentration of enemies possible.

Semaj, what are Sogs spells memorized. Also, I need to know what the rest of you do. Espl. Tiberious and Fletcher. Subdolus, do you look around the corner before or after the others enter?

Tiberious will wait for the fighters to enter the room first.
He will then peek into the room to see what is happening before deciding any further action.
Tiberious (invisible) will also listen carefully and hang a bit back to see if the group is being followed invisibly. (He will use his hear noise ability)

Subdolus looks after the fighters have entered. They are in to much of a hurry for his taste. That and waiting gives the fighters time to draw the attention of whatever is there giving Sub a chance to go unnoticed.

OOC: I'm going to go ahead and assume all the fighters and Sog go in first with the scouts looking in afterward for a chance to sneak in unnoticed and then Cadellin will take up the rear to see how his powers might best be used.
The fighters run into the south wall of the kings bed chamber. The room is 50 feet long (south to north) by 30 feet wide (east to west) with a 20 foot barrel ceiling and a huge fireplace. A large 4 poster bed lies at the far end of the room. The once magnificant decorative furnishings from all corners of Oerth are thrown about, some on fire, others in splinters. Also bodies litter the floor, 9 in all. Some are young pages, others elder clerics, while still others were guards in plate...all very dead. Most of them seemed to have been killed by a lighting spell that ran the half the distance of the room.
To the far west you see the 4 poster bed of the king and the king standing against the back wall in bed gown. He holds a magical sword but is too sick to fight (appearing pale), and is on one knee. Infront of him is his daughter the princess holding out a wand prepared to fire. And 25 feet from her in the center of the room is what appears to be some sort of levitating amorphus creature huge in size with many tentacles ending in barbs. It is covered in many small eyes and emmits a fear that all present seem able to shake off. Keeping this demon at bay are whats left of the royal guard, the dwarf in purple boots and another grey haired man. Both are taking a beating but swing with glowing weapons at the beast also inflicting damage.
Against the far East wall you see what appears to be an old halfling of about 95 holding out a wand and firing magic missiles at the dwarf and old fighter laughing at the sport of it. Beside this hobbit is...by the gods...the prince. He too smiles, and holds a club. He does not approach, nor does he speak. There is something odd about him. Your not sure what.
Initiative: group 3 monsters 1. You don't win surprise in this case so go ahead and state your actions. You can ingage any of the enemy you wish or do any other action.
Tiberious and Subdolus can sneak in, there is plenty of tossed furniture around to take cover behind. Getting into backstab position will prove difficult for now (as the halfling and prince face you, and the demon doesn't seem to have an area on its body without eyes that you can see).

Expecting someone to cast a favored spell, Calhagn hesitates a few seconds before charging. Calhagn's target will be the prince.

The yellow wizard moves in after the two scouts enter, keeping back inside the hall and only leaning over to reduce his outline. Ignoring the hiddeious pulsing mass of slime and tentacles, Cadellin casts slow at the prince and halfling, but it seems only the prince is effected. The Yellow Wizard suspects a Minor Globe of invulnerability surrounds the halfling. If this is true, most of his magic spells (3rd and less) will have no effect on it until it is dispelled or runs out. He thinks he might do better with the prince or even the denzien.
Sog, is there anything in particular you want to cast or do you wish to attack with a weapon.
The fighters approaching the demon find it terrifying, far more so then anything they've encountered before. It seems otherwordly, and its 1000s of double pupiled eyes covering its body and appendages seem to follow you with a sinister intellegence. What ever hell this creature was pulled from must surely be the worst of places. Cal charges toward the prince avoiding a tentacle that reaches out for him, but has to wait till next round to attack. As he approaches closer he sees the halfling aiming at him. What of the rest of you?

Cadellin sighs, and then casts monster summoning I.
When the whatever-they-are arrive, Cadellin'll send the whole lot of them running at this halfling. With strict orders not to damage that wand.
