A long stick is handed to the brave Calhagan and the group (taking the half elf's lead) steps back, waiting to see if anything happens. After poking the muck a few times sudden movement is seen in several portions of the wall of muck. Just as the fighter goes to step back, something huge errupts from the wall...it opens into a giant mouth (or so it seems) and a thick muscular blackish grey tounge about 4 feet long reaches out from it. It grabs the fighter by the waste (you were surprised 1 segment (despite prodding with the stick which did reduce the chances btw), and you were hit with a 15).
Cal and the group, after a moment, canb see more clearly what is attacking him. Coming out of the muck wall, just below the surface of the water is the biggest d**ned clam you've ever seen. With its muscular tounge the clam pulls you into its open clam shell maw and then slams shut!
Luckily you manage to keep your head out as well as your right shoulder and arm, but the rest of you is held within the shell (there was a 50% you would be completely eaten so it could have been much worse). The crushing force is tremendous and a grinding can be felt against your body causing 8 pts of damage. A loud sucking sound can be heard as the muscle within laps up the squeezed out juices of Calhagan...the giant clam begins to drink the rich blood threw its filters. At the same moment another Giant clam pops out of the wall from the opposite direction. Seeing one prey gone it starts projecting itself toward the main group. Huge blasts of water are shot from behind it as it skims toward you across the mucky bottom. The shell is marked with a leapard like pattern in brown. Both are about 7 feet across and must weigh over 800 pds each.
The group wins initiative (1, vs. monsters 5). By chance the one heading toward the group is closest to Zargon. Calhagan with one arm free can attack the main body (what weapon was in his hand) What does everyone wish to do? Calhagan is being pulled back into the mucky wall. Without help (or breaking free) he'll be pulled into it by next round and thus out of site.

OOC: LOL Calhagn had his black sword ready, so he'll use that. OOC: Yeah, I know, electrical damage.

Cadellin will slow the second clam (approaching from the other side), leaving the party free to rescue Calhagn. He's already reaching for his wand, intending to lightning bolt the slowed critter next round while it can't act.
(NB: Cadellin is aware of the DMG page 57 with regard to lightning bolts in water, and will ensure the resulting ball of electricity does not hit the party.)

OOC: I'm away over the weekend with no internet access, so I'll post a few contingency actions for Cadellin. The idea is not to hold the game up.
If Calhagn has been rescued or killed then Cadellin will lightning bolt the second critter as indicated.
If Calhagn is still being dragged into the clam's gaping maw then Cadellin will polymorph the clam into, let's say, a daffodil.
He will then stand back at a safe distance and fire magic missiles at any remaining clams until they die.

The second clam is slowed, allowing Zargon to get back from it a bit. Who wants to rush over to help Cal? You might be able to grab hold of him.
P&P see PM.

The powerful ERmanaric manages to grab on to his friend, but fails to tug him out of the clamped shell completely (though he does manage to free him partly, for now Cal can use both arms. Cal takes another point of damage from this effort.
Zargon is unable to reach the inside muscle portion of the clam (unable to get the angle) but instead swings with force at the shell splitting it, a blackish blood poors out from the crack you create, indicating you hit the muscle within. 14 pts of damage are inflicted on the beast by Zargon. Tiberious (I will assume) also attacks the giant clam on Cal. Both axes bounce off the hard ext exterior.
Sogathan moves up to Cal and heals him for 8 pts! While Subdolus swings with his swords (also unable to reach the interior). His dagger hits (popping threw the shell) and does 4 pts damage total.

Monster Counter: The one that is slowed closes in on Zargon and will attack next round. The giant clam on Cal squeezes harder for another 10 pts damage. It also fires out a jet of water at Ermanaric (who must make a save or be blasted down). The Nimble fighter manages to hang on keeping Cal from being dragged below the mud to a possible horrible death.
Surprise role: The group is surprised for 2 segments.
Unknown to the group something has been closing in on you from the sides and behind during this attack. Two lamps suddenly open up and blast Subdolus, Tiberious and Cadellin in the eyes. All three save (13, 19, 14) but are temporarily blinded. Cadellin suddenly feels two sharp pains in his back for 9 pts damage total. As the yellow Wizard spins around Tiberious can make out a giant frog like creature holding a short sword clinging to his back. In front of him is another. Also jumping from the water are 12 more. 5 attack Tiberious with great leaps. 3 short swords sink in to him doing 11 pts damage. 3 more attack Subdolus, one hits with a spear for 4 pts. 4 leap at Ermanaric (who is prone). Of the 8 attacks 3 hit doing 10 pts of damage (axes and swords).
The creature with the lamp like eyes blinks revealing itself to also be a frog like creature, but bigger and tougher looking. It is 20 feet away, but seems to be preparing to jump toward Cadellin.
Init: Monsters 3 group 4. You win.
The giant clam on Zargon (undamaged), the one on Cal, the 14 frog humanoids and the one with the lantern bright eyes are all possible targets (that you can see). Let me know what you do. Erm. You think another tug might release your friend (basically its BBLG) do you want to try that or attack with a sword?
(OOC: P&P is on vacation so am NPCing)
Cadellin, badly injured casts mirror image. Suddenly 4 of him appear confusing his attackers. what of the rest of you?

Can Calhagn reach anything on his belt, like his sword or dagger? I guess he sheathed the sword to use the pole. If he can't reach anything, than Cal will struggle to free himself.

Subdolus puts his new eye to good use and concentrates on a shambling mound rising from the water between the party and the frogs. It will of course not be friendly toward the frogs nor will it be affected by their lights.

(OOC: Stranger, have you ever seen that Night Stalker with the monster in the sewer thats created by some guys dreams...reminds me of that.)
Tiberious hits with both axes and kills two frog creatures. Cal, I assumed you had your two handed ready and just used one arm with the pole. So you have your two handed and can now double attack. Both hit (14, 13) because your being attacked you can hit the higher AC body inside the shell. You do 24 pts damage but the creature still lives.
Zargon swings down at the giant clam preparing to attack him but fails to chop threw its shell on both swings (2, 8). Emeranic tugs with great force but fails to free you from the clam (rolling a 69). He's forced to release you as your pulled under the mud and the frogs cover him pushing blades into the gaps in his armor.
With Subdolus's improved vision he sees 11 more frogs leaving the island and heading toward Cadellin (will be there in a round) he also sees another blindhiem on the island watching from attop a tall mutated mushroom, its beam not in use at the moment. He directs the shambling mound at them. All but 4 fail and start attacking it instead (two believe they are hit by the massive vegitation and die of fright). The other 4 not effected continue toward Cadellin in massive leaps.
Sog throws his staff into the water, and it turns into a massive python. It entwines two of the frog creatures and begins to squeeze them to death. The cleric then heals Ermanaric for 4 pts.
Counter: The blindheim reaches Cadellin and attempts to blind all 4 versions. Again the MU saves with a 15! The old fellow also attacked by the beast and one of his images disappears. Another attack by one of the others hits the real him for 4 pts. The others miss the Yellow Wizard.
The Giant Clam on Zargon misses with a 3. The one on Cal squeezes down for 9 more points damage. He has to hold his breath as he's dragged into a water filled mucky tunnel. But he keeps his sword. Init: group5 monsters 4 you guys are up.
Cadellin casts sleep and 5 of the creatures around him drop in the water (the one with the lantern eyes does not). Calhagan misses with a 4 (incredibly). What does everyone else wish to do?

Cursing and bleeding, Cadellin blasts the Blindheim with magic missiles (using the spell, so 4 missiles).
