As the Ghost takes a more solid form preparing to attack the king Tiberious manages to hit with one of his magical axes which penetrate threw it doing 9 pts damage. Subdolus charges and swings but the ghost proves difficult to hit!
The fighters continue to attack the demon. Cal steps back close to collapsing. Fletcher swings and hits for 12 pts total (the demon begins to suck into itself as acidic puss starts to leak excessively. Ermanaric deals a death blow!!! Rolling a 16 he hits and sinks his blade to the hilt for 15 pts total. The beast falls to the floor and quickly begins to shrink and dry like a raisin while the acidic pool grows so large the fighters must back away or have the bottom 2 inches of their boots desolved.
Sog, do you want to attempt anything in particular?
Once Sog goes I'll do initiative.

Cadellin deducts a hit point, and is now on -1.

OOC: I'll NPC Sogathan. The cleric attempts to turn, but fails to do so. Cadellin stays at 0 (I don't have you decrease at zero just -1). Initiative: Monser 5 group 1. The ghost rushes in toward the king and swipes him with his hand. In sheer horror the group watches as the 70 year old father turns 110 years old, his hair turning solid white and his lips drawing up revealing his teeth and jaws and his eyes sink in. Counter: The king falls to the ground dead (15 years past his maximum). The princess seems to sense this and starts crying in duplicate still pinned to the floor. Sog throws the mace he found on board the pirate vessel designed to kill undead. The weapon fails to hit. The fighters rush over with magical swords glowing and attack with fury. Cal hits with black sword and does 9 pts damage the electrical shock inflicts another 3 pts. Ermanaric fails to hit but Fletcher manages to role a 20 and does 8 pts. Tiberious throws his two axes again, this time both miss. Subdolus swings and hits with his scimitar doing 10 pts (this sword pulsates with great joy). The ghost seems to be thinning out before your eyes and turning to smoke. Initiative: Monster 3 group 3, simo. The ghost reeches out with its icey hand and swipes into Ermanaric rolling a 16 hitting. The fighter with 18+ strength suddenly ages 30 years as white streaks appear through his once youthful dark hair (adjust wisdom up 1 strength -1). Group. Ermanaric hits this time for 6, Fletcher and Cal attacks twice hitting both times for 13 total (including electrical damage). Sog swings with his staff missing. The ghost suddenly screeches out loudly hanging on to finish what it started. Initiative: monsters 2 group 1. THe ghost swings at Ermanaric and hits again with a 18 causing Ermanaric to age another 30 years (putting him at around 90). He collapses to the ground by the weight of his equipment. The group rushes in to protect the fighter. Sog hits with his staff, but Subdolus delivers the killing blow with Star bringer his magical dagger (which streaks through the ghost with star blue sparks) cuasing an ear splitting shreek that all must save vs. death within 20 feet when heard (its final attack on the party) so Tiberious and Cadellin are far enough away to not have to save. Everyone in the group makes it (Fletcher and Ermanaric on the dot...thank the gods of war ), but the princess isn't so lucky (rolling a 6) and dies of fright. Her hair turning solid white and her skin turning blueish white, her face twisted in terror like her father's. After the ghost dies the room fills with light (from 8 tall glass french windows) as the darkness spells in the castle disappear. Some of the group run over to see whats happening in the town below. You watch for about 5 minutes. The battle outside looked to be going badly for the town until the ghost was killed. The tides have turned. Suddenly the pirates (about 700) and another 500 or so towns people (criminals, and some dressed in black cloaks) flee back to the lower town (as several leaders masked to hide their identity disappear in thin air), many of the rioters and pirates are finished off with lightning bolts from several flying wizards (you wish Cadellin was up to see that). You watch in amazement as the pirates are trapped between the lower and upper city gates and forced to surrender. Only 300 survive the ordeal. The lower town and upper town are both burning and a small battle at the main gate (indicated with smoke)which resulted in the lowering of the drawbridge is ended. THe draw bridge is smoking and its chains broken. Luckily there is no hoard of pirates to rush in (perhaps stopped by the very actions of your group). Cal looks out in the harbor and half smiles, seeing his vessel though on fire still standing and being put out. Many of the other ships are ablaze or gone (some no doubt sailed off as pirate booty). Of the 3 large pirate ships (roughly three times the size of your own) two leave at full speed while the other is hit with several catapolted boulders and smashed to pieces before your eyes...a cheerful site to see. Sog is out of heals and Cadellin is down. Cal is at 1 and Ermanaric is having a hard time breathing as his heart teaters on the edge. What does the group wish to do?

Oh, you also hear the sound of someone screaming in the distance. Its at a good distance, but it sounds like, "we'll be threw in a few minutes, hold on!" The voice sounds like Zargon's.
Sogathan checks the king and princess. "I'm sorry to say, the death caused by a ghost is not reversable. Once dead this way you can't be brought back. The king and princess are toast. And we are left holding the bag." He glances around nervously, "The ghost is gone, and with that so is our evidence".
"Bag" says Subdolus, The word reminds the half elf thief of the bag he saw shaking by Ruinbottles body. Do you want to investigate that?
Sogathan reminds the party has a longevity potion (found in the dungeon weeks ago), does the group wish to use this potion on Ermanaric?
Does anyone have a heal potion for Cadellin?

Subdolus recovers the moving bag. Once he has secured it he makes sure the injured and aged are being cared for before asking Sogathan to see if his crown can sense anything in the bag.

Sogathan has you open the bag a bit and, to his great suprise, detects mental thoughts. They are human emotions of both terror and extreme stubborness. As if the entire mental will of a person were fighting something with 100% of its ability, leaving room for nothing else to think of. However, one image keeps repeating over and over lasting for a few seconds, Children running threw castle corridors and stopping at a door with a skull on it suddenly terrifide.

Thinking it may be the prince in the bag Subdolus cautiously releases the bags contents being careful both not to harm the contents and also not to be injured if he is mistaken.

You open the bag and dump out its contents. Falling out is the prince tied up and gagged and in horrible shape. He appears perhaps 10 years older then he should be. When his gag is removed he seems to stare only. Sog reads his mind and says he is slowly coming around, but it will take a good amount of time for him to remember who he is and wear he is. He doubts if he will remember all of the ordeal. In any event the cleric is extremely impressed with this young mans mental capacity. One day he will make a fine leader, as his will is unshake-able.
Also you find a locked chest and several scroll cases. The locked chest is checked for traps by the nimble thief who removes 2 needles the thickness of a fine hair. Within are found 5 potions of extra healing, 2 longevity potions and 2 potions of invisibility. Three are empty (but were labeled invisibility, ESP and polymorph self).
And of course, the bag is a bag of holding (larger then most).
The scrolls cases are openned (having no traps) and reveal writing you can't make out (magical but you failed your read language).
The group has now been in the room for 10 minutes since the battle ended. Does anyone want to leave and go down toward the voice of Zargon who continues to yell out for a response? Also does anyone wish to poor one of these potions down Cadellin's throat (Sog gives the all clear having tested them for poison).
Does anyone want to search the room for goodies? Does anyone search the kings body or touch his sword?

To keep the game moving I'm going ot assume Tiberious gives Cadellin a potion of extra healing. The monk looks on as the cuts across the wizards face heal and he awakens (having gained 19 HPs). A little dizzy the elderly man stands and brushes off his yellow robes "Ahhh, torn again"! He looks about to see what the blazes is going on. Thinking about almost falling out the window makes him a bit dizzy again.
Cal drinks an entire extra healing as well bringing him to 18 HPs total. There are 2 more left, does anyone else wish to drink (you can do sips for 1-8 or total for 3-24 per potion).
Also, who wants to grab one of the other potions? Subdolus does another search for anything else in the room that might have been dropped by the wood golemn or halfling but finds nothing else of value. The ranger nods, "Taking anything else would be considered stealing by the royal guard, so if any of you have anything in your pockets from one of these rooms, or one of the fallen dead I suggest dropping it."

Tiberious will speak with the surviving royal guard who witnessed any of the battle. He will ask who are the most loyal servants still alive and have them called to help with the prince.
The monk wants to also have the loyal guard immediately let the news of the daring deeds of the heroes who helped save the prince and fought with their lives with the King. Tiberious wants to stop any attempt to portray the group as villanous.
Tiberious also suggest a cleric who can cast a heal do so on the young prince to help heal any mental damage.
The monk then wishes to divide up whatever treasure may exist.
Tiberious will only do the above if the group agrees.

I'll be attending the Lake Geneva Game Con IV from Thursday afternoon through Sunday evening, with Monday's post-Con activities TBD. I trust you not to get Zargon killed again. ;D
Although he's starting to develop a real phobia for plants... vines, shambling mounds, possibly a shrubbery...

Subdolus agrees with the monk but recommends that first a couple of them should check on Zargon's yelling.
