Didn't Sog give up the crown to get his arm regrown?

Nah, you traded the magical book of demons and devils instead (powerful in the hands of a wizard or cleric). Sog still has the crown and magical ring (allowing him to turn 4 levels higher and speak with dead 3 x day (as if 12).

Between ESP and the rings they wear it should be no problem to identify several "friends" to be "escorted" back to the city.

The journey from the village to the city is likely to be perilous.

The next morning after a wonderful breakfast with the bishop of Sogathans church the group departs to extract revenge on those villagers that are likely involved in the devilry that resulted in Sogathan's death. Each member is given a potion of extra-healing as a good luck token by the bishop, who pulls them out of his sleeve (the way a magician might pull out flowers). The potions are 3 inches long and a half inch wide (3 sips of 1-8 each). Each member is also handed a powerful holy water flask which does the following: it causes 3-24 pts damage when thrown on undead (rather then 1-8), can create a circle (or barrier of a doorway etc.) that acts like a protection from evil spell (as if cast by a 14th level cleric). Each holy water can create a circle of protection 10 feet in diameter. A third power of the holy water is that if drunk, it bestows the ability to detect evil as if cast by a 14th level cleric. "Good luck, the forces of blackness push on our northern borders, and we must stay vigilant. Find those guilty and deliver justice".
The group thanks the bishop for his generousity. Zargon deals out 50 GPs for each party member to resupply themselves with 2 weeks food and other goods (let me know if you want to stock up on arrows or oil). Late morning the group leaves the city of Vandal on horseback. Sog seems well, but a bit dizzy still. The ride goes well the first day (clear weather threw the forest). On the second day the group is awaken by rain. At midday a huge brown bear attacks the group but fails to do any real damage. It is killed by the fighters who deal devistating blows (and butchered for steaks to be eaten later in the day). Near dusk the group hit a rather desolate area (few forest sounds) and discover a cabin just off the road that wasn't there the last time you passed (only four days ago) large portions of its slate roof are green with lichen and its wooden walls grey with age, as if its been here for 100 years. It is two stories and of typical log cabin construction. A light shines from the top window (it is nearing dark). The cabin is located 30 feet from the where the side road leads to the village you are heading. Does the group wish to investigate this or bypass it perhaps?

Subdolus is all for checking out the strange cabin as he would rather not have anything surprise the group later.

Cal agrees with Sub. Cal and Cadellin could maybe .. umm .. watch the trail, while Sub and Tiberious scout the perimeter. Cal's interested in discovering if that wood looks weathered or if it looks new.

OOC: I'm going to assume Tiberious goes along with this plan.
The rest of the group hangs back (the fighters Erm, Cal and Zargon at the front with bows drawn, and behind them Cadellin and then at the rear Sog). The two scouts, now well aquanted with each others methods are lost to site by the rest of the group.
As you crawl threw the foilage, both scouts detect a putrid smell the closer they get to the two story cabin. Large piles of smelly sticky black feces lie about the wood, in one a glimer of gold is detected. Subdolus sees an earing....nausiating the half-elf (I assume he takes it and wipes it off -its worth 12 GP). The feces stands in piles from 1 foot to 2 feet in height, and seems a few days old to fresh. Tiberious reaches the downstairs window first and peers in. Rocking in a rocking chair facing him is an ancient man with white strands of hair shooting out haphazardly from an almost bald head. He seems tall and wares an old cotton long shirt with a striped print. A few candles light the room making his eyes appear to glow silver, while something in the shadows moves behind him (low to the ground almost like a large dog). A muffled whimpering can be heard coming out of the room directly behind the one he rocks in, though the door is closed. The room this ancient man rocks in is in total disarray and its couches and tables are rotting away under mold and time. Cobwebs also fill this chamber.
The two scouts make it around the back silently and peer threw a shuttered window (the shutters on this one are closed from the inside, but you can look threw a crack).
Inside this room stands a fat muscular man (with perhaps a wrestlers build) wearing a leather skirt with his head encased in a helmet covered in spikes (but otherwise naked), a fire place next to him filled with coals and hot pokers sticking into them.
Strapped to a table is a naked woman in her mid 30s having her stomach slowly eaten threw by 3 large river rats. The rats are held to her body under a metal cage (about a foot long and high, like a cake lid). The torturer prods the rats with a burning piece of metal forced threw the cracks and onto the rats backs burning them and thus forcing them to burrow threw her stomach and out the back to escape. This causes immense pain to the gagged woman (one's gotten so far that only its tale and back legs are visible, the rest chews frantically in her innards).
Stairs in this room lead up to the next floor. Also two other rooms are downstairs, but the shutters are closed and there isn't a crack to see threw. What do you wish to do? She is close to death you think. You could also climb or fly up to the top story and look threw that window as well.
As you contimplate, you hear something moving toward the main party in the woods...perhaps its nothing, a deer maybe (leaving the area of the cabin and heading toward the road where your comrads wait). What do you wish to do?

Sub looks to Tiberious and recommends getting back to the group. The woman is beyond our help, the rest of the cabin feels "wrong" and whatever left the two foot deep piles of dung might be returning.
Sub keeps to cover and tries to stay hidden if they go back to the others.

Tiberious agrees to return to the group with the thief, believing the group should decide.
Tiberious will hang back (invisible) to try to surprise what may be coming. (He will inform the party first of possible impending danger)

As the two scouts head back to the group (Tiberious holding back the most) Subdolus feels something sticky land on his shoulder. Glancing upward above him in a tree is what appears to be a black tenticaled monster 6 feet up quickly slinking forward. It has 8 such tentacles each about 12 feet long (if stretched out) surrounding a squat body 6 or 7 feet in diameter, its difficult to make out much detail in the din, but you see two large mesmorizing white eyes (set atop the central mass) each eye having multiple black pupils (looking around perhaps for you). Its body moves quickly and snake like threw the tree canopy, its furthest tentacles search out for a path and then the rest of the body is pulled in that direction with powerful muscular tentacles. It occasionally drops gue like a slug might (most of this sticky clear slime stays in the trees).
The beast does not seem to be aware of you as it heads toward the road. Tiberious hears another one coming from the opposite direction (20 feet away also headed for the road where your companions wait). It also sounds like it came from the house.
The scouts could attempt to surprise the beasts but they are still 30 feet from the group and it would be difficult for them to locate and assist you if things go badly.
Let me know if you want to attempt some sort of attack on this monster or do something else (you could stay hidden and wait till it gets closer to the group).

Tiberious will run using his monk speed and invisibility to get to the group and warn them. He will do his best to run quietly, remembering, as a youth, running silently from the monastery kitchen before being caught by Master Soko.

Tiberious (MS 95%) steps on a stick as he runs toward the group causing a long black tentacle to come shooting out of the darkening canopy at him (rolling a 4) the tentacle wraps around a branch just above his head tearing it from the trunk. He outpaces the creatures and quickly reaches the road, warning the group of the impending attack. Seconds later (just after the fighters finish getting into defensive positions) 12 slimey black tentacles explode from the tops of two large oaks near the road. They expand to an incredible length of 24 feet, allowing everyone in the group to be in attack range. As you follow the tentacles back to their main bodies, You can just make out black blobs hiding hiding behind the tree trunks, each has large intelegent white eyes with geometric blakc pupils that seem to change shapes fluidly (from stars to circles and every other shape)....mesmorizing those who look (but luckily everyone saves vs. hypnotism).
Initiative: Group roles a 5 monsters a 6!
the three fighters at the front block the others and take the brunt of the attack 3 tentacles going for each. Zargon is hit by one which wraps around his waist trapping one of his arms (and crushing him for 2 pts), Calhagan has two grab on to him immobilizing his legs and arms, crushing for 4 pts, and lifting him into the air! Ermanaric manages to avoid the three arms grabbing at him. The three remaining group members have one arm attack each. Tiberious and Sog dodge theirs, but Cadellin is grabbed around the thighs and lifted upside down into the air (the tentacles squeeze the old wizard tightly for 3 pts).
The groups counter attack.

Calhagn will, of course, attempt to break the grip of the tentacles. He'll concentrate most of his effort on the tentacle binding his arms.
OOC: I don't suppose that when the tentacle squeezed his torso, it forced the can of spinach, stashed into his breast pocket, to pop open and project it's contents into Cal's mouth, eh?

OOC: Let me role and see....ah...no.
Cal focuses his strength on breaking free of the slimey tentacle...BBLG attempt. Holly crap a 02% !!! Cal breaks his arms free this round. Next round you can attack with your sword.
