OOC: (Note: this is likely past 18 days, but I kinda lost track.)
The elemental heads down the hall and out of site presumably stopping up ahead.
The party sets camp behind the boat, guards are posted and a fire is lit for Cadellin who is freezing in his wet cloths (ancient scraps of wood are collected from a narrow shore at the edge of the cliff 15 feet below, how it got there is a mystery). The group has no random encounters save some pesky stirges (8) that attack from the river entrance but are quickly dispatched by the gaurds. After about 2 days (its difficult to say down here) of healing and rest (and killing the occasional giant frog and one particularly large water troll who tried to sneak up on your group but was backstabbed by subdolus and finished off by the fighters) the group recovers all hit points and rememorizes spells. During that time you become better aquanted with each other.
Miles the Gnome spreads around good tobacco and fine brandy to warm your souls. One story of interest he tells you concerns the local history: that these mountains used to be home to a dwarven kingdom and vast dungeons exist within the range, there exact locations long forgotten. The great coastal forest (the one you crossed) was home to elves with some human settlements, and the west side of the mountains (the direction where Zargon and Miles came from) was occupide by gnomes who worked the rough gem stone mined by the Dwarves. The gems, once shaped and set in jewelry were then taken back over the mountain by human merchantes through the great forest and then to Grime (a human port) where they were shipped to far away places. All profitted greatly from this arangement. But nothing good can last forever. Over 1,000 years ago there was some disagreements between the dwarves and elves that boiled over into outright hatered and a war broke out. The humans that kept the great trade roads open were first to parish (along with this and many other keeps) and then the city of Grime fell to dark forces. dwarves and elves still continued to fight in vanity for over 100 years until finally both disappeared. It is unknown if they are still around or if they simply left this region. Most of the gnome left long ago, since the gems no longer flowed from the dwarven mines, and the mountains became far to dangerous a place as evil powers crept back into this part of the world. The humans eventually returned to Grime and eeked a living from fishing, and several ill fated attempts were made to re-open the forest roads and the mountain pass, but it never lasted. Finally, after many generations, Grime was returned to a state of power (by the Good King Zorik and his magician brother). He re-opened the shipping port, and has had some success as a holding station, between the Northern and Southern Merchant guilds. All was going very well, and then about 30 years ago the upper farming communities of Grime fell to evil and the great wall was built to protect the city. There was talks of recapturing the outer city and even reoppening the trade road through the forest....but now........with the kidnapping of his 2 children, Prince Ragaur, and Princess Alizia, the king has lost much of his spark. Truely, the fate of Grime is in question. Also, the forces of evil seem to be building up on the west side of the mountain again, some force organizes them...but I do not know what.
Miles puffs somberly from his elkwood pipe, "I fear another great period of darkness and evil is approaching that will sweep these lands". Miles hands Cadellin a scroll, "I have carried this around for years hoping to give it to a good magician. Its magic I can't use and has been in my family a long time. The gnomes around here and the humans used to be fast friends." Miles pats Cadellin's back, and those times may one day return". The scroll has on it stinking cloud and strength, some others were on it but were apparently ruined by water stains and now are too faded to read (have you already attempted to learn these. If not, I will role to see if you can learn them and enter them into your book).
The party is now well rested, totally healed and spells are rememorized. Would you like to procede (at this time Tiberious tells Sub he wishes that monk Cain was still alive to take point)?
