To keep things moving I'll assume Tiberious stays with Subdolus (who is still injured) to move further ahead would result in loosing site of the group completely (and he can't use his invis. ring for a while yet..thats a risk I dont think SKA would take ). Sub, You feel your muscle reparing and bones working their way back into place as your sword heals you for 14 pts. The sword seems happy helping to kill these unnatural woodland beasts. Cadellin follows with the rest of the fighters and Sog. Smythus and the gnome stay back with Ruinbottle still too injured to move much. The running scouts follow a cloud of burnt hair and dripping blood across the room and finally back to the door the beasts were gaurding (which now is in splinters (as if the giant gorilla simply ran through it) revealing a dark corridor beyond). The caged men look out of the bars demanding to be let out (but this would take some time you think). I assume you follow into the hall (now the fighters are a good 50 feet back). A corridor lies before you 15 feet high and 10 feet wide. Within 8 feet off the ground are dim glowing torches (made from some strange bone) spaced every 30 feet along the wall produce a faint greenish light revealing 4 other entrances. 2 banded and wooden doors lie at the far end of the corridor 100 feet down, and an open entrance 50 feet down on the right (the west) and another open entrance 30 feet down on the left (its hallway leading slightly north). The smoke and blood trail (and a smashing noise) suggests the beast is escaping down closest hall (the one 30 feet away). Subdolus detects a pit trap (30% FRT) on the other side of the splintered door and avoids it screaming back to the fighters to crawl to the right around its edge (marking it quickly with chalk). The 2 forward scouts then head down the corridor (which goes down at a slight decline) for 200 feet before coming to an opening (another door looks smashed down, this one stone cracked in half on the ground). Beyond the threshold they see a beach and the underground river. Standing to the side of the entrance is the Giant Gorilla (who looks to be preparing to jump into the river to escape, it holds a large barrel and a sack in its hands). The beast looks down the hall as you come near it (waiting till you are near enough to grab at...using its keen sense of smell perhaps), it fails to win surprise on you and you on it. Normal initiative: 2,2 simo. The beast detects both of you (Tiberious in his cloak is even detected). Dropping its things The creature grabs the monk picking him up into the air crushing him in its powerful claws for 12. It then bites the monk with its huge mouth clamping its teeth shut for 15 more before dropping him on the beach (you have gone from 26 to -1). Simultaniously Tiberious swings with his magical axe and remaining magical dagger. His dagger hits and he inflicts 4 more points damage. The beast still stands! Subdolus moves in with his magical scimitar glowing brightly and swings at the beasts stomach rolling an 18. doing 4 more points of damage, his dagger misses. Initiative: Monster 3 group 4. The fighters are still 50 feet back but here the battle up ahead. The monster ignores the fallen tiberious for the moment (at -2) and pounces on the half elf. 2 claws hit for 11 total, but luckily its massive bite misses snapping but inches from your head (with a 2). Your counter. Subdolus swings again with both weapons rolling 2,1 (holly crap!!!) Initiative: Monster 3 group 1). Incredibly the creature misses with both hand attacks but manages to bite you for 12! Cadellin is now in range and fires his last magic missile spell. 3 orbs shoot forth and hit the creature in the head inflicting 10 pts of damage and removing half its skull. The giant ape falls backward landing halfway in the water, black running from its head into the crystal clear river. So, Ruinbottle, Smythus and the gnome are back in the round room. Sogathant the cleric and the fighters as well as Cadellin are in the hall and Tiberious and Sub are on the beach. What would the group like to do? Subdolus are you still up (and alive)?

img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/AxeMental/DungeonMap17net.jpg Updated map. You guys are on the beach down from the area your boat was placed. Its a small gravel beach. When the fighters show up with light they see a chest on the edge of the beach (were the river meets it) half burried in the pebbles, waves licking around it. TRP: "Calhagn joins subdolus in the chase. " You arrive after the battle is over, slowed down by your armor.

Earlier it was mentioned that the group had no silver arrows, but I thought Zargon grabbed some: "On the way Zargon examines the body of the fallen fighter now in 4 pieces. You find he was a well muscled human of about 40 years of age. He wore chain (now useless) as is his shield, and find several weapons a flail and a broken short bow. You do find 30 silver arrows in a quiver and a nice looking long sword." Not that he'd have realized at the time to use silver arrows, since his sword was working so well... Now we wait until the next full moon? ;D

OOC: My bad, you do have some silver arrows! I forgot to write that on your paper (it probably wouldn't have made much of a difference as you'd have only gotten 1 round of arrows off anyway before they were in close range).
Sogathan gives you some baladona to eat and informs you he doesn't think you suffered enough damage to transform. But he'll not be sure until then either.
The fighters run in and apply first aid to TIberious who is stabalized at -3. One of his potions of extra healing is pored down his throat by Sogathan restoring him to 15.
Sog heals Subdolus for 7 and is out of spells (so your at 10).
What would you like to do next (camp here, return to the round room, go back to your boat etc.). Remember also the ettin carried a bag and barrel, there is a chest near the rivers edge and their are prisoners (under the table). Also you left Smythus back with Ruinbottle and Miles.

Tiberious suggest we regroup a bit and perhaps use some more healing spells to bring everyone up to full power before continuing.
Tiberious will also guard the group using his cloak should the group agree to make camp for a bit.

Subdulus recommends searching the immediate area then returning to the caged humans before they stop to rest. They may have some useful information.

The group searches the beach and finds the bag carried by the giant gorilla. Within are 8,000 gps in coins (mostly PP) and another 10,000 gps worth of gems and jewelery. The large barrel is empty and sealed and has a strap attached, a floating device you think (this gorilla may not have known how to swim). A pouch it carries around its shoulder contains about 20 poorly rolled cigars, and 5 heavily salted and cured human legs (upper thigh down) wrapped in what looks like cheese cloth. Within is also a dozen speckled giant bird eggs (safe in a wooden container sitting within straw) and several bags of spice (peppers, salts and the like).
Do you want to investigate the half burried chest on the shores edge? if so exactly how. It is half way in the water/half on the beach...and appears to be in loose debree as if the ground their could easily cave in or break off into the main river (detected by Subdolus who approaches within 7 feet before he notices).

Subdolus takes out his magical rope once again. He has the rope go forth and secure itself to the chest. Once it is secure he asks the new fighters in the group if they could try to pull it to shore.

Standing back 10 feet you let your rope slither its way over to the chest but its unable to find a good surface to grab on to. Finally you will it to form into a lasso that tightens around it. The fighters pull (the magical rope able to take the strain) and as they do so the ground begins to break away falling into the water (this causes a chain reaction of some sort and the entire beach begins to slide into the water...the ground moving under your feet). The group quickly moves backwards into the passage (the beach apparently badly undercut by the river. By the time you pull the chest in all but 2 feet of shoreline is gone.
The chest is ancient and heavily mineralized more a rock then a chest. After searching for an opening and looking for any sorts of traps the deposits are broken free with a hammer and the top broken off (its hinges long ago rusted away) reminding you of a geode. After pooring out most of the water (along with small fish and crestations) you find a fine suit of elven chain mail made of some shiney metal with links so light and small a thief could wear it under his garments without effecting his chances to move about quietly. It is priceless and appears no worse for the wear. The armor, you think, would fit Subdolus (being a half elf)
Also within the chest are many scrolls (once magical) in wax sealed bone cases (12 in all) but each has had its seal broken over time and is now useless mushy paper. Also you find a fine set of ornamental silver short swords (elven) and the remains of a fine elven long bow and 50 arrows all ruined. The trunk had also at one time been packed with rich clothing, but all that remains now are some golden buttons and gold and silver threads. The buttons and thread are worth 200 GPs at least.
Subdolus, do you wish to put on the elf chain mail?
After dividing the treasure the group heads back to the main circular room (where the battle took place) finding Smythus conversing with the prisoners in low whispers.
Smythus looks up:
"Ahhh, back and well I see. These men would like to get out and help us, this is their leader (he points) his name is Moth."
A dirty thin long haired greasy fellow in the front smiles, showing 2 missing front teeth. "oye, Umm Moth. Weze were ouwta rescue da princess fo da king. Waz caught we waz by dem horrid beasts. Ifya let us outta dis cage we ouw sweaya to obey yo commands."

Subdolus will try on the strange elven chain. He will move around in it a bit to be sure it doesn't feel heavier or more restrictive than what he would normally wear. If he is satisfied that it won't hinder him in any way he will keep it on.

The elf chain is feather light, and once on under your cloths you don't even feel it, it does not impede your movement in any way. Your AC is now: 2 (AC 5 chain, -3 for 17 dex).
OOC: I think you had found some +2 magical leather, do you give this to Ruinbottle (it would magically alter to fit him).
Smythus takes out a knife and starts cutting the ropes to free the prisoners, "so its OK then if I let them out"?

As soon as he feels comfortable in his new armour Subdolus walks over to Ruinbottle and hands him the magical suit of leather armour. "Lets see if this can help keep you in one piece a little longer."

Tiberious will stop Mythus, "Wait a bit before releasing these fellows."
Tiberious, out of hearing range of Smythus and the captured men states the following: "Perhaps we should question them and use the ESP crown as we do so. I cannot trust anyone who calls themselves "Moth""
