Subdolus and Tiberious take the lead and head over to the pillars checking for traps. Tiberious finds a pit trap (FRT 24) of sorts on the natural path up to the pillars. A 8' round area of thick moss covers a deep pit; the moss moves (similar to an entangle spell) when touched, so that if you stepped into this trap you would be pulled down by it and deposited someplace below (to who knows what fait). Tiberious barely escaped the clutches of this strange moss which grabbed at his clothing momentarily and is hesitant to investigate this hole further without first torching the moss. He marks the area so that it can be avoided. Subdolus finds another similar pit 10 feet to the right of the one Tiberious found and also marks it.
When the 2 scouts reach the circle of stone columns they have a better view of the roughly hune reliefs of women on each stone slab. Each appears human and dressed in robes with meloncoly faces looking inward toward the center of the circle. As Sub crosses the first pillar a bright violet flash occurs over the entire island. You wait a few moments but nothing seems to happen.
Subdolus looks over to the rest of the group and asks if they want him to use his rope to retrieve the glowing sphere.

"Be careful with the statues," advises Sogathan. "They sometimes come to life."
Does the sphere look fragile, as in made of glass? If so, then roping it might not be wise.

Sub looks apprehensively at the statues for any sign of movement. The sphere does look to be made of glass with what looks to be a sea within...moveing in a kind of slow motion and you would assume its fragile. Your scouts don't look excited about going into the circle, but the rope probably would drop the sphere.

"Enough of this," mutters Sog and wanders into the circle to take the sphere.

Sogathan walks into the circle and picks the glowing sphere up from the silver rod, its light is blinding as the silvery waves slowly move about within the sphere reflecting out intense light in all directions. From this blinding position Sog hears the crackling noises of stone breaking and falling around him. The clerics original instincts were correct, as the group see the seven rough female reliefs pull free of their stone pillars, and then transform into ill tempered women otherwise very attractive save for some exagerated features (eyes too big, nose and mouth too small, fingers to long etc.), as well as sickly pale almost white skin and silvery pupils; they're dressed in robes weaved from some sort of living sea plant and all seem to be dripping in water. They seem to be angerred by Sogs actions and are moving toward him fingers up like claws there attention focused on the sphere in his hands.
The group just win initiative: 4, 5. Sog, in your hand you hold the sphere, glancing down at it now reminds you of a crystal ball (though larger and a bit cruder and with an odd shimmer), the place depicted within the ball seems real to you...massive waves rolling around in some bright sea. Briefly studying it for a moment (as you back away) you begin to see portions of its sides, ad you get the impression this sphere is not a crystal ball (or the like) but rather a huge natural pearl with some sort of magical dwermer cast upon it. You think this pearl must be worth a fortune!
What would the group like to do? These strange women are closing in on your friend fast.

Just for clarification: The women no longer appear to be stone, right?

Tiberious will throw his two magical axes of returning at the water chick closest to Sog. (Axe...remember the +3 damage for being a super-cool master of Chi-dang Yow!)

Sog attempts to dodge out of the circle with his cargo intact. IF he makes it out, he'll drop it and ready for the attack.

Zargon only swings his magic sword if one of the females attacks him directly; otherwise, he waits to see where they are headed.
"Put it back! Put it back!"
OOC: He's not giving up his attacks - merely watching to see where the females are going before he makes his move.

Apparently the group is in such shock it effects their aim! Tiberious 2,3 Sub. 7, Em. 5, Zargon sees one moving toward him chanting something so attacks hitting with an 18. The damage is massive causing a huge gash across her chest followed by a spray of blueish black blood.
Cal hits with his shield (a natural 20) throwing one back allowing Sogathan to escape the circle however, no real damage is inflicted.
Sog, you get the impression these women aren't going to be very forgiving from the looks in their eyes (hint hint) you manage to get out of the ring and places the sphere on the ground outside of it, preparing your magical staff.
Counter: The enchantment is ruined on the one attacking Zargon so it opts to bite. When it opens its mouth you see its full of razor sharp teeth, it grabs at you with its powerful hands and pulls you close as if to kiss, luckily your able to throw it off with your hand meer inches from your face. You begin to notice a transformation, as her body elongates.
Of the remaining 6, 2 go for Sog (casting some sort of enchantment from a distance) but Sog shakes off both attempts off (despite a -3 to each...good ol' cleric save table), 2 cast spells at Ermaneric and Cal both failing and transform into large cold water pike which begin flapping around (however you keep your ability to think as humans...and can commuincate with each other). One which appears to be their leader stays in the center and raises its arms chanting, but wont finish till next round. The remaining 2 sea witches cast spells at Subdolus and Tiberious. Both suddenly feel very slimey but save (15, 17) and don't transform like their friends.
Initiative: monsters 2 you 3. You go first.
