Subdolus looks around after the suggestions, "If everyone else wants to go first I don't have a problem with it, but I think we may want to move back to our old scouting tactics with our new friend here taking Ruinbottles spot as the third scout."

The half elf thief Subdolus (Stranger) moves in first then followed by Tiberious the Monk (SKA) and then Fletcher (who despite his armor and weapons remains incredibly stealthy), behind them back a good bit are Zargon and Ermanaric (fighters) then Sogathan (the groups only cleric) and at the rear Calhagan, just incase an attack comes from behind. OOC: if you guys want to do a different order let me know, this just seems typical of your setups, the fighter order a bit random. Also, I'll assume Sog doesn't cast a silence (I'm not sure if thats one of his regular spells) if you wish to Semaj, let me know. The half elf moves silently forward, carefully searching for traps and secret doors along the way. He finds the mist gets thicker as he progresses, and the stickyness of the floors and walls increases eventually into a gooey sticky substance an inch or so thick amber in color (but not so sticky as to impede movement, though it does throw your balance off a bit as your feet pull away from the taffy surface). The soft high pitched chanting gets louder as the group progresses, obviously coming from something or someone up ahead, though shrouded by the thick mist. After moving 50 feet the half elf picks up a faint orange light alluminating the fog, the glow of embers you think. Sub MS 26% as does Tiberious 31%, and both spot something horrific up ahead: Floating 10 feet off the ground in the center of an open space (perhaps a room or cavern, you can't see the walls or ceiling due to the fog) weaving in and out of the mist is a large unjulating pulsating mass (about 6 feet in diameter, siluated in the light its hard to make out details) it has appendage like forms (perhaps tentacles) that reach out now and then into the air around it, as it circles a strange column covered in carvings that reaches up and out of site (you can't see the top of this pillar or the ceiling). The column seems to vibrate as the chanting continues. As far as you know this "thing" (10-20 feet ahead, circling the column and 10 feet up in the air) is doesn't appear to be aware of you (and the chanting continues). What do you wish to do? If you go back you'll both need to MS again, and Fletcher (acting as a go between) awaits your signal for the rest of the group (to advance hold or retreat).

Is TIberious able to see where the chanting is coming from?

No, it might be the thing your watching chanting or someone/thing else. Its too foggy and echoey in here to say.

OOC: Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was asking after the Silence re:the chanter(s), not to use on the party for stealth.

The ranger signals the thieves to move and attack, while the ranger charges forward as well. The beast is not surprised, but looses initiative (you role a 5 monster a 2). Tiberious throws 2 handaxes of returning at the floating monster (now moving downward toward the party) hitting with one for 7. Subdolus hits with his magical skimitar for 8 total (hitting what appears to be a tentacle like appandage with a mouth on its end). Fletcher moves below the beast and thrusts upward as the beast moves down to attack, he hits but his sword fails to penetrate its thick skin doing no damage. The rest of the group rushes forward but with the sticky goo it takes a little longer (you can act next round).
The chanting continues from above (and the vibrations continue). Closer up you see the column has been carved with what appear to be veins and arteries (if you had to guess) as well as handholds so that you could climb upward into the fog. The beast appears flesh colored like a floating boulder but with tentacle appendages 5 in all, each with a mouth at its end filled iwth teeth. 2 go for Fletcher, one hits for 5. 2 go for Subdolus but incredilby miss! The last goes for Tiberious stretching out 13 feet to reach him. A 20! and the beast picks him up in its mouth for 9 pts.
Initiative:group 4, monster 3. Go ahead and let me know what you want to do. The chanting from above has stopped, and the vibrations of the pillar stop as well.

If Tiberius is still caught in the monster grip, Fletcher will try to pull him free, otherwise he will attacke with his sword.

Luckily Tiberious manages to break free on his own, allowing Fletcher to attack with his magical long sword, this time your swing hits home (rollng a 19) and slices deeply in to the floating mass causing 12 pts damage to it, and a shower of dark brown blood. OOC: Here is a quick drawing I made for this encounter back in highschool or college. I have a feeling SKA is about to be the guy that gets his head bitten off.

Zargon rushes forward and chops repeatedly at the thing with his magic longsword.

First, Cal insures that nothing is advancing from the rear, if not, he'll charge forward to join the fray. If something is approaching from the rear, then he'll certainly announce it.

Zargon charges along with Ermanaric and Calhagan swords flying, Cal swings at a head but it pulls away at the last second. Zargon and Ermanaric both hit doing massive damage, one of the necks is cut almost in 2.
Sogathan also manages to hit the underside of the floating mass cuasing 8 pts damage, he then charges forward, staff in hand.
SKA: "Is TIberious able to see where the chanting is coming from?"
You look upward in the mist and suddenly make out something looking down at the group from 15 feet up about 10 feet from the pillar (so unless this thing is also floating there is a platform or something above). The thing you see looks to have a humanoid body but large saucer eyes. What do you wish to do?

If Tiberius (or anyone else) wants to try and climb up the pillar to investigate, Fletcher will cover them with his longbow, otherwise, he will try to finish the monster off with his sword.
